LCP were appointed by principal fit-out contractor The Austin Company to undertake the supply and installation of all partitioning and ceilings including acoustic and bespoke specialist ceilings and of site pre-fabricated bulkheads / columns.
The optimum floor to soffit height (5.6m) was determined after considerable analysis of the laboratory services requirements. This height was then carried through into the office areas.
The overall design concept was to provide clear space, using pre-fabricated systems wherever possible, such as the pre-fabricated service bulkheads and relocatable quiet room pods. The use of fixed partitions was limited to the vertical circulation cores and WC's.
In conjunction with the desire for pre-fabrication, standard ceilings were omitted from all general office areas and laboratories other than meeting rooms and WC's.
Accessible acoustic panels (Decoustic) were installed in the ground floor atrium area as well as the upper floor common areas. The pre-fabricated service office bulkheads were developed with ACE Ceilings.
The plant area was designed as a free standing building, separated by a twin drywall fire rated construction using shaftwall to limit sound and vibration. All plasterboard was finished with a seamless skim finish.
All drywall partitioning by British Gypsum, mineral fibre ceilings by Armstrong and metal ceilings by SAS.
