This project, undertaken for Mansell Construction Services, entailed the design and installation of partitions, linings and suspended ceilings to form a new campus for the University of Kent comprising of student accommodation, seminar rooms, lecture theatre and external amenity areas.

450 standard student bed spaces are provided in six or eight study bedroom clusters set around a central kitchen and living space that are then situated in eight blocks of four storey dwellings. 90 further rooms are situated within the academic block comprising 50 enhanced study rooms with communal kitchens and 40 self contained rooms with kitchenettes.

The academic facility houses seminar, teaching rooms and an exhibition area with a 496 seat lecture theatre. With a structural timber frame to all buildings PAN worked alongside Mansell and Knauf Drywall to develop solutions that delivered the required levels of fire protection, durability and acoustic control.

PAN provided a full plasterboard recycling scheme at the works where board waste was minimised and any unusable offcuts were chipped to maximise skip loads prior to being returned to Knauf for recycling.
