A contract negotiated and carried out with Sir Robert McAlpine, to build a new state of the art health centre. The highly technical and challenging project involved the supply and installation of Armstrong Bioguard ceilings, the design and construction of straight and curved feature bulkheads using plasterboard (a combination of perforated and standard boards) and m/f systems as well as the fabulous timber features within the three storey high atrium area.
There are some solid Oak panel features within the reception area and the client's desire was to maintain that finish throughout. However, in line with our Environmental Policy (we are certified to BS 8555) and the economics of the contract, we suggested using an alternative wood. We decided to stain FSC Certified and sympathetically sourced sections of Pine to match the Oak, and after one or trial runs agreed a final finish with the client. The sections were installed on a steel framework and the final effect is a stunning, eye-catching series of features which finish off a wonderful, light atrium area befitting a modern public building.
