Following a detailed tendering procedure, Paramount was appointed design and build contractor for KPMG's new 800m² regional office in Cardiff Bay. The fast track programme required an intense cycle of design, approvals, procurement and construction in order to achieve completion within a nine week construction period.

Taking the concept design from Sheppard Robson Architects, Paramount's in-house team issued some 30 design drawings including 15 on bespoke joinery alone. In tandem with the design the tightly monitored procurement process required the tendering and appointment of 28 separate subcontract packages.

M&E work included modifications to the existing chilled beams, new IT room services, a tenant specific building management system and comprehensive AV and security measures.

High quality finishes were used throughout. The extensive bespoke joinery was particularly challenging with designs requiring the highest quality finish and to be sympathetic to stair only access to the third floor of a new office development. A temporary workshop had to be created for final fabrication of the large bespoke items.
