The scope of the specialist joinery work undertaken by IOR Group was at the base of the Atrium and comprised:
? Reception desk curved glass backdrop and bespoke seating
? Library and Information Centre reception desk
? Library bookcases
? Touch down IT bench
? Cafe bar counters

IOR Group was responsible for the design, manufacture and installation of the above items which supports the new build design using materials and processes which focus on sustainability.

The strong visual quality of the structures was designed to reflect the Strength and Safeguard mission of the VLA, and the use of oak, stone colour and glass to echo the natural environment. The curved glass backdrop to the main reception desk has a full size image of the countryside.

The library presented the challenge of traditional high volume book storage within an open plan 'Market Square' location. The use of clear acrylic shelves and open tops to the carcase work, allows the light from the atrium space to pass through and illuminate the books.
