Upton School was part designed by The Princes Foundation for the Built Environment and as such the school had to meet strict environmental standards, so much so Upton Primary School reached The BREEAM Excellent Standard.
Part of the architects brief was to create visually interesting and stimulating ceilings for the children whilst retaining the acoustic performance that is required within this busy primary school.
Ridge Interiors worked closely with the architect and the technical department of Ecophon Acoustic Ceilings to achieve this. The installation of the Ecophon Flexiform Ceilings (tile size 2m x 600mm) to the classrooms in a wave form configuration was made more difficult by the ceiling curving on plan and elevation.
In the assembly hall Ecophon Focus (tile size 2.4m x 600mm) was installed in a barrel vaulted configuration, this too made for an interesting installation due to the curved end wall and numerous service penetrations.
The corridors and circulation areas had Ecophon Focus A (600 x 600) and the entrance lobby was finished off with Armstrong Infusions Accent Canopies.
