The contract consisted of the removal of existing ceilings, bulkheads, partitions and operable walls from three auditoriums on the first floor of an occupied building. MG Ceilings and Linings then had to develop a scheme that would encompass lighting and AV requirements in the ceiling and operable wall, and provide an aesthetically pleasing appearance.
Systems used on the project included British Gypsum bulkhead, Ecophon Focus ceiling, Ecophon lighting coffer D with curved drop. Other items included an 11m and 17m 54dB operable wall as well as flooring, blinds, associated decoration, comfort cooling, electrics and AV.
The lighting and AV requirements were to be integral with the systems installed. Uniformity of the three rooms was important in case they were to be used as one large area. The controls had to be programmed to suit also, ie when one/two operable walls opened this would send a signal back to say that the audio, visual and lighting requirements for two/three rooms were to be controlled from the central unit.
The programme for the works was also time critical, due to the nature of the client bookings and training commitments that Siemens had already confirmed.
