The client took an innovative stance at the beginning and asked Souness and Boyne to be involved from concept design through to practical completion. The area was to house a uniquely designed elliptical meeting area which covered some 400m2 of floor space. Two people were assigned to this project to ensure the client?s wishes were both practical and deliverable, which included the following design features:
? 300mm wide curved walls in elliptical ?eye? shaped format, with curved beams and doorways which all had to be freestanding
? A suspended and floating ceiling feature which emulated both the room shape and the large meeting table shape
? Three bespoke and commissioned circular fused glass features were incorporated into the 300mm walls
? A concealed steel post sub-frame was constructed to support the framework and allow it to be freestanding
? Curved doors housed into curved bulkheads and set onto curved tracks
? Curved and shaped recesses and planters
? Mood scene lighting, which changes colour and frequency throughout the day
The contract was completed through three weeks of nightshift and was transformed to the client?s satisfaction.
