A variety of high specification British Gypsum partition systems lined with high performance boards were used on this project. They included 6m high Gypframe 92mm ?I? stud and shaftwall partitions in Block 1, twin Gypwall Curve partitions lined with 6mm Glasroc Multi-Board to form the distinctive Winter Garden Staircases. Also used were Gypwall Classic, Quiet, Audio and Staggered systems formed in various stud sizes and linings, often with reinforced options and independent wall linings to the perimeters were formed both in stud and Gypliner.

A bespoke perforated metal wall mounted acoustic freeze panel system manufactured by SAS and incorporating crosstalk attenuators was installed on all floors, on the ground and first floor 300mm deep perforated acoustics baffle panels were fitted to the concrete soffit. SAS 600 x 600mm 150 metal clip-in ceilings were installed in the changing rooms and toilet cores.

Twin acoustic ceilings were installed in the drama and dance studios formed with two levels of MF casoline grid, the upper lined with two layers of wallboard fully sealed, the lower with Gyptone Quattro 41 perforated boards set to full boards with plain margins.

Single layer Quattro 41 ceilings with plain margins were installed throughout the building. The second floor classroom ceilings were Gyptone Line 7 Curve perforated acoustic boards with Base Curev boards around the perimeters, installed on a Casoline MF grid fixed to the roof structure and adjusted to create a perfectly curved monolithic ceiling. Sloping Quattro 41 ceilings were also installed in the art rooms.

The most impressive features were the 12 conical shafts that consisted of an outer layer cylinder formed in Gypwall Curve system supported and suspended at roof level and braced at the bottom by the low level Quattro 41 ceiling and boarded with 6mm Glasroc Multi-Board and fully sealed to create an air tight path. The inner section of the shaft, including six separate air tight compartments for the damper system, also framed in braced studwork to form a lampshade like feature running down from the glass dome above to give natural light to the area. Also lined with Multi-Board, which was quite an achievement due to the curved, sloping and tunnelling framework which apart from the need for the segregated air compartments would normally be pre-formed in fibrous plaster.

The inside of each feature was taped and jointed to a high standard and a grille fitted in the low level ceiling to complete a both stunning and functional feature.
