Kings Place incorporates the first concert hall to be built in London since the Barbican in 1982 and Swift Horsman secured the manufacture and installation of the specialist joinery package against stiff competition.

This showcase of joinery skills is in every instance manufactured from European Oak that was personally selected by Swift Horsman with the client and the architect to ensure only the best material was utilised in the manufacture. The veneer was sourced from the Spessart region of Germany that is famous for its honey colour and even grained structure and provides some of Europes finest timber.

The veneer log selected for this project was very special due to its size and even growth pattern and was named Contessa and Contessa yielded 7,000m2 of prime grade veneer, which was sufficient for the whole concert hall thus providing total colour and grain matching across the whole project.

The design of the concert hall by Dixon Jones Architects combined with Arups class O and acoustic performance demands, Swift Horsmans manufacture and installation expertise along with the beautiful timber used, delivered a stunning visual appearance and a leading venue for the performing arts.
